Dear SIA Members
As you are no doubt aware the COVID-19 situation is changing constantly with new rules and directives being put forward by both federal and state governments.
At this difficult time everyone within the Snowsports Industry is asking the same questions, however at this stage it is simply too early for the resorts to be able to indicate the likelihood of opening this Winter and if they do open to what extent.
On a positive note we have time on our side. It is currently 13 weeks away from the Victorian June-July School holidays and 14 weeks away from the NSW school holidays. In communication with the resorts (ASAA) we know that they are looking at many possible scenarios for opening this Winter but at this point in time it is simply too far in advance to give any definitive answers. As soon as we have more information we will pass this on to our members ASAP.
Last week the collective Snowsports Industry launched the ‘Protect our Season’ campaign. We all need to do our bit to encourage everyone to follow the Government measures for limiting the spread of the virus and ‘Flatten the Curve’. The faster this can be achieved the more likely that the resorts can open so please encourage everyone to do the right thing.
It is imperative that everybody continues to monitor the situation through the official government channels and also seek professional advice from industry professionals including your accountant, banks and financial advisors.
Communication is key. Talk to your staff, your suppliers and your customers. In times like this we need to look out for each other and collectively work together.
We will be in touch as soon as we have any relevant information.
